"John Wilber offers some great bluesy folk music on his album entitled, "The Road Home." John's gravely blues vocals portray a rich and alluring look into his musical world. The songwriting is certainly something to be impressed with. I truly enjoyed listening to this album. John Wilber has that distinctive voice that seems to explode with emotion. There are true feelings and emotions presented in every song on this album. The entire album has some excellent qualities that would keep me up all night writing about. The musicianship, the vocals, the songwriting, the entire album is definitely a masterpiece of acoustic based music. This album possesses some serious artistic value that is so rare these days. Music fans who are tired of the same old, same old, should take a listen to this." . . . Michael Allison - THEGLOBALMUSE

Strong feelings are imbedded in these circular pieces of plastic. Feelings that will unravel, in part
the mystery of John’s soul.

"Rarely does one find a CD with so apt a title as John Wilber's "Alive & Well On The Skids."
... like Tom Waits, Mr. Wilber crosses boundaries and blurs distinctions while remaining firmly rooted in a resolutely bluesy place.
..."Do You Think" ought to be required listening
... he accomplishes so much in the space of a single song says much about John's songcraft.
... John's voice isn't far from the aforementioned Mr. Waits, with maybe a hint of Dylan here and there. It's gruff and gritty, and as a result every word he sings rings true.
...Maple Island Records is one of the more interesting indies out there, dedicated to presenting the works of singer-songwriters in spare, intimate settings that make no concessions to commercial interests. John Wilber's "Alive And Well On The Skids" is a fine example, a challenging but ultimately rewarding experience.
... Mr. Wilber's music is as real and as honest as it gets. Recommended!" John Taylor, for Blues On Stage - Read the whole review!

Among John's influences are John Mayall, Van Morrison & Sonny Terry. Mostly though, his life experiences and travels have shaped the core of his music. "Solo" was written while walking down the road to keep him on the path. He acquired his first harmonica at the age of 12 and has been pursuing songwriting ever since.

John has graced us over the years with several songs not found on his solo releases. Check out appearances on five different Maple Island Records various artist projects, VAP ONE, VAP TWO, VAP THREE, MIR Selected Cuts Live and the Lost Cabin Sessions - Volumes One, Two & Three. He also guests with harmonica on Jana's "Closet Musician" and Tom Schrader's "Caught in the Act - Live at the Grind".
